Roofline and exterior areas inspected for rodent entry points

Key takeaways

  • Fairfield housing spans downtown tracts, Travis-side neighborhoods, and hillside Green Valley and Rancho Solano
  • Homes in Green Valley and Rancho Solano back onto open hills, so pressure comes from the uphill side
  • Suisun Creek and Ledgewood Creek run behind neighborhoods, and the marsh edge sits at the south end
  • Seal every opening, high and low. Traps remove the rodents inside

Rats or mice in your home?

Scratching in the attic or walls in Fairfield?

Fairfield homes get entered at both levels. Roof rats come over the top from trees, fences, and lines. Rats and mice work the crawlspace, foundation, and garage below. We check both levels, plus the creek or hillside side, so the estimate covers how they are getting in.

Why do Fairfield homes get rats and mice?

Fairfield is the Solano County seat, set between hills on the west and Travis Air Force Base on the east. Rodents have creeks through town, hillsides above the western neighborhoods, Suisun Valley farmland, and marsh to the south. Roof rats travel fences, trees, and lines into attics. Rats and mice work the lower openings. What decides your home is the state of its openings.

Think you have mice? It may be rats.

Calls here often start as mice in the garage, and sometimes that is right. House mice work the older tracts and the Travis side at ground level. But attic scratching is usually a roof rat from the hills or a creek, and young rats get mistaken for mice. Droppings tell them apart: about a quarter inch and pointed for mice, about half an inch for rats. We read the signs, then seal for both.

Green Valley, Rancho Solano, and the hillside edge

Green Valley in the northwest and Rancho Solano in the northeast hills both put homes right against open hillsides. Those streets are the first shelter hillside rodents reach, and pressure comes from the uphill side. On hillside homes we start at the back: rear roof transitions, vents and eaves facing the hill, and garage and foundation openings on that side.

What about the older tracts near downtown and the Travis side?

Around downtown, along Texas Street and the older grid, homes are mid-century tracts with crawlspaces, aging vent screens, detached garages, and additions. Streets toward Travis are tract homes from the same era and later. Entry points are usually a list, not one hole, at both levels. We go junction by junction: roof-to-wall seams, foundation gaps, utility entries, and garage corners.

How do Suisun Creek and the marsh feed Fairfield rodent problems?

Suisun Creek and Ledgewood Creek run behind whole neighborhoods, and the south end runs toward Suisun City and the marsh. Creeks give rodents cover and water. Marsh ground holds Norway rats, which work at ground level. If your home backs onto a creek, that side gets the closest look, at the fence, foundation, and roof.

Should you trap first, or seal first?

Seal first, then trap. We seal the openings first, so the next group cannot move in. Then trapping removes the animals still inside. Trapping alone never ends, because the openings stay open. We set both plans at the inspection, then return for trap checks.

What does a Fairfield inspection include, and what does it cost to start?

The inspection is free. We check the roofline, attic, garage, crawlspace where there is one, and the outside, with extra time on the hillside, creek, or marsh side. We show you what we find and give a written estimate listing the openings to seal.

What we check first in Fairfield

We weight the inspection to the side facing the pressure: the hills above Green Valley and Rancho Solano, the creeks through town, or the open ground toward Suisun Marsh. In older tracts near downtown, crawlspace and foundation openings get the same time as the roofline.

Do you provide rat removal and rodent proofing in Fairfield, CA?+

How much does rodent proofing cost in Fairfield?+

It depends on how many openings your home has and how safely they can be reached. The inspection is free. You get a written estimate listing what will be sealed and any trapping or clean-up included, so you know the cost before work starts.

My Fairfield home backs onto the hills or a creek. Does that change anything?+

Usually it means steadier pressure. Hillsides, creeks, and marsh ground are where rodents live, and edge homes are the first shelter they reach. We weight the inspection to the side facing open ground.

I rent out a home in Fairfield, or I am renting one. How does this work?+

Tenants usually hear activity first. We inspect, document what we find with photos, and give a written estimate. The owner or manager books the proofing, since it is a building repair.

Do I need attic clean-up or new insulation after a Fairfield rodent problem?+

Not always. Many homes need proofing and trapping only. If droppings or damaged insulation are heavy, clean-up can be discussed separately after the inspection.

The Integrity Process

Our 4-Step Rodent Proofing Process

Inspect. Proof. Clean Up. Follow Up. We inspect the whole home, seal the entry points, clean and sanitize on the same visit, then set traps and keep coming back until the house stays quiet.

01

Rodent Inspection

The inspection is free, and it is where every job starts. Our inspector checks the attic, roofline, garage, crawlspace when there is one, and the full outside of the home, tracing droppings and runways back to the openings rats and mice are using. He takes photos of what he finds, and the inspection becomes a written estimate with a report and map our crew works from.

02

Rodent Proofing

Our crew works from the inspector's report and map, sealing every entry point rats and mice are using, and the ones they could use next. We seal with construction grade materials.

03

Rodent Clean-Up & Sanitation

Clean-up is its own step, but it happens on the same visit as the proofing, while the crew is already there. Where it is accessible, we remove droppings, nesting material, damaged insulation, plastic vapor barrier, and heat duct insulation, then sanitize and deodorize the areas we cleaned. Damaged materials go back new and up to code, and we protect the inside of the home while we work.

04

Follow-Up & Trap Checks

After the proofing, we come back every 3-5 days until there is zero activity. At each visit we check the traps and re-inspect the sealing, looking for any new opening or fresh sign that rats or mice are still moving. Once the traps stay empty and the house stays quiet, we take the traps out and the job is done.
