Rat & Mouse Removal & Rodent Proofing in Carmichael, CA

Hearing rats or mice in the attic, or finding droppings in the garage? We provide rat and mouse removal and rodent proofing in Carmichael from our home base in Dixon. Carmichael is an unincorporated Sacramento County community of big, older lots and mature oaks along the American River. Its ranch homes give rodents ways in high and low. We inspect, seal the openings, and trap any rodents still inside. Inspections are free. You get a written estimate before work begins. If you are searching for rodent control near you in Carmichael, this is the local page: what we check, how the work runs, and what an inspection covers here.

Roofline and exterior areas inspected for rodent entry points

Key takeaways

  • Most homes went up from the 1950s through the 1980s on large colony-era lots, so one house often has several openings
  • The mature oak canopy and the American River bottom feed roof rats straight to rooflines
  • Ranch homes on raised foundations need both levels checked: roof rats high, mice and Norway rats low
  • Seal every opening. Traps remove the rodents inside

Rats or mice in your home?

Scratching in the attic or the crawlspace of your Carmichael home?

Roof rats ride the oak canopy and fences into Carmichael attics. Mice and Norway rats work the crawlspace vents, foundations, and garage openings below, especially on big lots toward the river. We check both levels, so the estimate covers how they are getting in.

Why do Carmichael homes get rats and mice?

Carmichael began in 1909 as a colony development, sold as small farm lots, many planted in orchards. The homes came later, from the 1950s through the 1980s. That leaves a ranch house on a big lot, under mature oaks, with decades of additions behind it. For rodents, that means food in fruit trees, cover in the canopy, and more junctions and vents than a new build. Calls here rarely come down to one hole.

Think you have mice? It may be rats.

Droppings in Carmichael garages and kitchens get blamed on mice more often than they should. House mice are here, in crawlspaces and garage corners. But young rats and roof rats leave droppings in the same places. Size tells them apart: about a quarter inch and pointed for mice, about half an inch for rats. On a big lot, both can be true at once: mice low, rats high. We read the signs at both levels.

How does the canopy and the river bring rats in?

Carmichael's south edge is the American River, with Ancil Hoffman Park and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center in the river bottom. Arcade Creek also crosses the community. Roof rats live in that greenbelt and in the oaks. They travel branch to branch, fence to roof, and line to eave. A roof that touches the canopy is connected to the river corridor. Sealing the roofline breaks that link.

Why do ranch homes need the low openings checked too?

Most Carmichael homes are ranch style on raised foundations, with a crawlspace and a vent or access opening every few feet. Screens rust. Doors warp. Every utility line added since the 1960s punched its own hole. Mice need only a quarter inch. Norway rats work the same level, and on river-side lots they burrow at foundations. We run the crawlspace with the same care as the roofline.

What do big lots, fruit trees, and outbuildings add?

Many colony lots still show their farm roots: fruit trees, gardens, detached garages, sheds, and pool equipment across a quarter acre or more. Fallen fruit feeds rats. Sheds and woodpiles give them cover. A detached garage with gaps at the corners is often where signs show first. Picking up fruit helps. Sealing the openings is the lasting fix.

Can remodels and additions open new entry points?

Yes, and Carmichael homes have had decades of them. An addition, patio cover, re-roof, or moved wall creates roof-to-wall joins the original build never had. Gaps open where the two builds meet, and rodents find them from the roof and the crawlspace. We spend extra time on those seams. That is where the entry list usually grows.

What does a Carmichael rodent inspection include?

The inspection is free, and same-week inspections are available. We check the roofline, attic, crawlspace, garage, and outside, following the canopy, lot, and additions. You get a written estimate before work begins. Our order is seal first, then trap rodents still inside. We do not use poison. Call (707) 754-2408.

What we check first in Carmichael

We start with the canopy and the lot: overhanging oaks, fence-to-roof connections, and fruit trees, sheds, and detached garages on the big colony lots. Toward the river, around Ancil Hoffman Park and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, foundations and crawlspace vents get equal time.

Do you provide rat and mouse removal and rodent proofing in Carmichael, CA?+

Yes. We serve Carmichael along Fair Oaks Boulevard, from the Arden edge to the American River. We inspect, seal, and trap throughout the community. Call (707) 754-2408 for a free inspection.

Our lot has big oaks hanging over the roof. Does that really matter for rats?+

Yes. Roof rats cross to roofs from branches, fences, and lines. An overhanging oak is a road into the attic. Trimming helps. Sealing the roofline openings is the lasting fix.

We have fruit trees and outbuildings. Is that why rodents keep coming?+

It is a big part of why they visit. Fallen fruit feeds rats, and sheds and garages give them cover. Cleaning up helps. Proofing the openings ends the cycle.

Our house has an addition. Could rodents be getting in where it joins?+

Yes. Additions create roof-to-wall joins and hidden voids the original build never had. Gaps at those seams are common entry points for rats and mice. We check addition seams closely, from the roof and the crawlspace.

How much does rodent proofing cost in Carmichael?+

It depends on the openings your home has. The inspection is free. We show you what we find and give a written estimate before work begins, so you know the cost up front.

The Integrity Process

Our 4-Step Rodent Proofing Process

Inspect. Proof. Clean Up. Follow Up. We inspect the whole home, seal the entry points, clean and sanitize on the same visit, then set traps and keep coming back until the house stays quiet.

01

Rodent Inspection

The inspection is free, and it is where every job starts. Our inspector checks the attic, roofline, garage, crawlspace when there is one, and the full outside of the home, tracing droppings and runways back to the openings rats and mice are using. He takes photos of what he finds, and the inspection becomes a written estimate with a report and map our crew works from.

02

Rodent Proofing

Our crew works from the inspector's report and map, sealing every entry point rats and mice are using, and the ones they could use next. We seal with construction grade materials.

03

Rodent Clean-Up & Sanitation

Clean-up is its own step, but it happens on the same visit as the proofing, while the crew is already there. Where it is accessible, we remove droppings, nesting material, damaged insulation, plastic vapor barrier, and heat duct insulation, then sanitize and deodorize the areas we cleaned. Damaged materials go back new and up to code, and we protect the inside of the home while we work.

04

Follow-Up & Trap Checks

After the proofing, we come back every 3-5 days until there is zero activity. At each visit we check the traps and re-inspect the sealing, looking for any new opening or fresh sign that rats or mice are still moving. Once the traps stay empty and the house stays quiet, we take the traps out and the job is done.
